The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder might just be exactly what West Ham United need.

Manuel Pellegrini manager

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has began his time in charge of the club in decent fashion, but a succession of injuries to some of his key men has hindered his side’s chances of progress.

The Chilean will surely be keen to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium, especially in the midfield department.

With this in mind, the Hammers should consider a move for Tottenham midfield warrior Victor Wanyama.

According to the Sun, Spurs are keen on signing Andre Gomes, and if they do bring the Portuguese to the club, Wanyama will surely be shown the exit door.

The Kenyan is extremely combative, and he would add a certain level of tenacity that West Ham currently lack in the middle of the park.

Wanyama, 27, joined Tottenham from Southampton in the summer of 2016, for around £11.5 million, and despite initially impressing in north London, he has since slipped down the midfield pecking order.

West Ham have desperately lacked power and energy in the middle of the park since Cheikhou Kouyaté left for Crystal Palace in the summer, and Wanyama would certainly be able to fill that void.

The Kenya international possesses bags of energy, unrivalled strength, and has the rare knack of being able to break up the opposition’s play in the final third.

The Hammers might have to wait until the summer to sign Wanyama, but Pellegrini should be patient, and do everything in his power to bring the Spurs ace to east London.
