Inter are reportedly interested in Bruno Martins Indi following Stoke’s relegation but should West Ham challenge for a defender said to be available at “low cost”?

Bruno Martins Indi could be available to sign on the cheap this summer following Stoke City’s relegation from the Premier League.

Italian outlet Calciomercato reports that despite Martins Indi being under contract at the Bet365 Stadium until 2022, the defender is likely to be looking for a move and could therefore be available at “low cost”.

They go on to say that Inter Milan are interested in signing the centre-back, who only made his move to the Potters from Porto permanent last August following a season on loan.

Competition for Inter

Although landing a defender from a club who have conceded the most goals in the entire English top flight in 2017/18 may not seem like a great decision, Martins Indi did have a good reputation before joining Stoke built with boyhood club Feyenoord and then in Portugal.

That is why perhaps West Ham United should take a closer look at the 26-year-old, especially as football.london reports that the Hammers are in the market for at least one new central defender this summer.

With Jose Fonte having left in January, James Collins soon to be out of contract and Winston Reid injury-prone, support is needed at the back and Martins Indi can also boast 34 caps for Netherlands and an important role played at the 2014 World Cup when they reached the semi-finals.
