Following a report from the Daily Mirror which suggested that Chelsea are planning to sell Michy Batshuayi this summer, it may perhaps be an idea for West Ham to revive their interest in the Belgian.

Slaven Bilic wanted to bring the forward to the London Stadium ahead of this season, according to the Mirror, but they ultimately missed out to their Premier League rivals.

However, Batshuayi has made little impact at Stamford Bridge – he is yet to start for any of his 16 top flight appearances for the Blues – and now seems set to move on just one year after arriving.

Although his year in England has been disappointing, it would surely be worth the Hammers considering pursuing a move and offering the 23-year-old the chance to really prove himself in the country.

Batshuayi was sensational in his last year in France, scoring 17 times and contributing nine assists in 36 Ligue 1 appearances, and while his record for Chelsea does not capture the imagination with just one goal and one assist coming in 16 games, a closer look shows that he has only played 97 minutes so still boasts an impressive strike-rate.

And with the Hammers’ strikers struggling to make that great an impact – Andy Carroll is the Irons’ leading scoring striker in Bilic’s squad this term with six goals – looking to pull off some kind of deal for a top forward, who certainly has a major point to prove, could be an excellent piece of business from West Ham.
