There remains much uncertainty about West Ham United’s goalkeeping position.

Despite last night’s defeat to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, David Moyes has done much good work in improving West Ham United’s fortunes since he took charge.
There is still much to do, however, if West Ham are to preserve their Premier League status, with the club currently in 15th place in the table, just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Moyes has helped to make West Ham more resilient defensively but the goalkeeping position remains an area of considerable uncertainty for the club.

Joe Hart featured against Arsenal but has yet to reclaim his place in West Ham’s Premier League side, with Adrian having taken over in recent weeks.
Hart has often been unconvincing when he has featured of late, and, while Adrian has looked assured, there remain question marks regarding whether the Spaniard can be relied upon for the long term.

West Ham may, then, be regretting selling Darren Randolph to Middlesbrough last summer, with the Republic of Ireland international having produced some impressive displays during his time with The Hammers.
Randolph has kept nine clean sheets for Middlesbrough in the Championship this season and is enjoying playing regularly, while West Ham are still uncertain regarding the identity of their first-choice goalkeeper.
In hindsight letting Randolph leave may not have been the best move for West Ham as he could have provided them with a more reliable presence in goal than Hart and perhaps also Adrian.
