West Ham United should perhaps consider joining the race for Ivan Cavaleiro amid uncertainty over Michail Antonio’s future at the London Stadium.
It is perhaps a surprise that the Irons could sell Antonio, but he has struggled with injury and has probably never quite managed to realise his full potential during his time at the London Stadium despite some serious high points.
Wolves are reportedly interested, and it would appear that Antonio may perhaps be deemed a potential replacement for Ivan Cavaleiro, with TEAMtalk also reporting that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have agreed a £12 million fee with Huddersfield for the Portuguese.
It is something of a shock that Wolves are ready to cash in on Cavaleiro – the club’s stance has certainly angered many of the fans – but if they are, West Ham should perhaps consider a late move to rival Huddersfield for the forward.
The 24-year-old was exceptional during Wolves’ title-winning campaign, with nine goals and 12 assists in the Championship. If he is able to replicate anything like that form at the highest level, Nuno will undoubtedly regret letting him leave Molineux.
And West Ham should look to capitalise on Wolves’ willingness to sell by suggesting some kind of swap involving Antonio. Based on the respective reports, it would appear that the Premier League newbies may be open to such an idea being put forward.
