West Ham United need quality additions in key areas and they should not waste more time in their pursuit of a new goalkeeper.

According to a report from the Sun, Manchester City are unwilling to send Joe Hart out on loan next season and want his suitors to come in with permanent offers, so what are West Ham United waiting for?

The Hammers are among the clubs said to be keen on the England international and, at £18million, he is well within their reach.

Torino's Joe Hart in action

The problem for West Ham is that so far this summer they appear to have been targeting players that are either reluctant to join them or have seen contractual issues get in the way.

Henry Onyekuru opted to join Everton while Own Goal Nigeria reports that West Ham have only recently accepted Manchester City’s buyback clause in a potential deal for Kelechi Iheanacho.

Only time will tell if that was too little too late, yet whatever happens in West Ham’s ongoing striker search, they also need a new ‘keeper and Hart is the ideal solution.

The 30-year-old still has years ahead of him and at the right club he can rediscover his best form and prove to be a bargain, even for for £18million.

West Ham acted quickly to seal the free signing of Pablo Zabaleta but since then it has been all rumour and no action, and Hammers fans are rightly growing restless with the pre-season friendlies fast approaching.

West Ham actually have a target with a set price tag, who has to move on for regular first-team football and who would represent great long-term value. Surely they cannot let this one slip through their fingers…
