West Brom interested in Basel’s Michael Lang but would he also be a good option for West Ham?
FC Basel defender Michael Lang celebrates at the end of the UEFA Champions League Group A football match against Manchester United.
Lang is a versatile player who although generally operates at right-back, has also played in central defence and right midfield for the Swiss champions at times this season.

The Baggies are looking to sign the 26-year-old as a replacement for captain Jonny Evans, whose proposed departure from the Hawthorns to either Arsenal or Manchester City appears to be edging ever closer.
Yet could Lang also be the ideal signing for West Ham United – especially considering the variety of roles the Switzerland international can play in?
Pablo Zabaleta has been the Hammers’ main choice at right-back or right wing-back this season following his switch from Manchester City, but at 33-years-old now looks a little past his best for the Premier League.
Huddersfield Town’s Rajiv van La Parra (R) tackles West Ham United defender Pablo Zabaleta (L) during the English Premier League football match at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Sam Byram is also at the London Stadium and while undoubtedly a talented defender, is likely to need competition on the right side of the back line.
West Ham manager David Moyes has favoured a 3-5-2 formation in recent times and Lang’s ability to play further up the field – and score goals, with eight in 26 appearances this term – means he would be comfortable on the flank.
Also, the former Grasshoppers player could act as cover at centre-back, which could be especially useful with Borussia Monchengladbach keen on signing Reece Oxford permanently – as reported by the Telegraph – and the Birmingham Mail claiming Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in Jose Fonte.
