West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has a lot of work to do at the London Stadium this summer, if he is to guide his side to an improvement upon their 13th placed finish in the Premier League table last season.
One particular area where the Chilean will want to bolster is his centre-forward department, with more competition required for Marko Arnautovic.
With this in mind, the Hammers should consider a move for Liverpool hitman Danny Ings, who has been attracting attention from Crystal Palace, according to the Times.
The Reds frontman has suffered horrendous luck with injuries since making his switch to Anfield from Burnley in the summer of 2015, making just 14 Premier League appearances for Jürgen Klopp’s side.
That is not to say that he doesn’t have plenty to offer at the very highest level, though, and a switch to West Ham could be just what he needs to help breath fire back into his stuttering career.
Ings is a lively forward, and his tireless work-rate, combined with an impressive knack of finding space in the penalty area would surely make him a real asset for the Hammers.
The former Burnley man could play as part of a two up top alongside Arnautovic, and he would undoubtedly help West Ham improve upon the potency of their play in the final third.
According to Transfer Markt, Ings is valued at £7.2 million, and if the Hammers could bring him to the London Stadium for that amount, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for them.
