Should West Bromwich Albion consider a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye?
West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Pardew is in dire need of some creativity.
The Baggies have fashioned just 19 goalscoring chances all season long, and have only scored four goals in the eight Premier League matches that Pardew has taken charge of so far.
Given that West Brom are 19th and four points adrift of safety, you could say that their survival hinges on whether they score goals in the second half of the campaign.
Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye would be a massive help in this cause and Pardew should look into signing the Frenchman for a third time. Cabaye wouldn’t score a huge amount of goals, but he does have the magic necessary to create them.
Cabaye joined the Eagles for £12.6 million under Pardew two and a half years ago but, with six months left on his contract, the London side must either sell the former Newcastle United star this month or prepare for the likelyhood of losing him for free in the summer.
Given Pardew’s history with him, it’s entirely possible that the former Paris Saint-Germain schemer would consider a move to The Hawthorns.
Best of all, he wouldn’t cost a fortune by virtue of the length remaining on his contract, probably less than his £9 million price-tag according to Transfermarkt.
Palace obviously wouldn’t want to lose a player of his influence, but they are already in a position of weakness and a suitable offer from Pardew might just force their hand.
