We take a look at three players West Bromwich Albion could target from the Championship in the summer.

Charlie Taylor

West Bromwich Albion look set to join a long queue for Taylor’s services if he decides to leave Leeds United on a free transfer in the summer.

The left-back has continued to impress under Garry Monk this season, featuring on 24 occasions for the Championship play-off contenders. Taylor could finally solve West Brom’s long-standing dearth in natural fullback options after right-footed Allan Nyom filled on the left-hand side for most of this campaign.

Marvin Johnson

Last summer Albion plucked Matt Phillips from the Championship and the winger has since gone on to be a big driving force behind the club’s improved attacking record.

This time out, Tony Pulis could be looking to League One to bolster his wide options. Johnson, 26, has been in flying form for Oxford United and – according to the Birmingham Mail – his exploits have attracted scouts from West Brom, Birmingham City and Aston Villa.

The Birmingham-born left-midfielder has two goals and five assists to his name this campaign. He has also filled in at left-back when necessary, a versatility that should appeal to Pulis. Any potential move would be helped by the fact the ex-Albion player and coach Michael Appleton remains the boss at the Kassam Stadium.

Marc Roberts

The commanding centre-back looks destined to make the step up to Premier League football next season.

Roberts has been one of many Barnsley players to draw interest from other clubs following the surprise achievements of Paul Heckingbottom’s Championship newcomers. The 26-year-old’s form and leadership were rewarded with the captain’s armband after Conor Hourihane left for Villa Park in January.

With his contract running into its final year, the Tykes might be forced to offload him at a cut-price this summer. Such a deal might appeal to the Baggies, who have reaped the rewards of signing Craig Dawson from the lower leagues. They also need to add youth and depth to their back-four with the departure of long-time servant Jonas Olsson.
