Should West Brom rekindle their interest in unsettled Watford captain Troy Deeney?
Taking a look at West Bromwich Albion’s top-scorers from 2016/17, it becomes increasingly apparent that they are lacking something in attack.

Second in the list is 36-year-old centre-back Gareth McAuley. Hardly an endorsing statement for those tasked with putting the ball in the back of the net at the Hawthorns.
So arguably one of manager Tony Pulis’ top priorities this summer should be signing a new striker and one who knows how to score goals regularly in the Premier League.
While it has been over a month since these rumours have surfaced, the Sun reported in May that the Baggies were keen on bringing unsettled Watford captain Troy Deeney to the West Midlands.
At the time the fee was quoted at £25m with a further £100,000-a-week in wages, which may seem a little steep for a player who has just turned 29.
Yet in a Hornets team that have had times of struggle since coming back into the top flight in 2015, Deeney has scored a respectable 23 goals in 75 league games. His overall record for the Hertfordshire outfit is 106 in 303 appearances.

The Evening Standard said at the start of June that new boss Marco Silva’s first task should be to try and sort out the differences between the club and the skipper, but as yet there has been no evidence of that.
It would at least be worth Pulis investigating whether a deal could be possible, because with West Brom struggling upfront, Deeney could be exactly what they need.
