West Brom need to win Dean Henderson chase amid Ben Foster rumours

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster has been linked with the summer exit as Premier League relegation looms.

With West Brom eight points off safety with just eight games to go, it appears to almost be a certainty that Alan Pardew’s men will be playing Championship football next season – and with that, a mass clear-out looks set to be on the cards.

The Sun reported earlier in the month that Jonny Evans, Jay Rodriguez, Craig Dawson and Ben Foster are all likely to have Premier League offers, so it would appear that the Baggies may have to rebuild the core of their side next season.

Of course, promotion at the earliest opportunity has to be the priority, but Pardew, or whoever the boss may be next season, should try to look at relegation as a chance to build the side back up with a mixture of the talented youngsters that are coming through at The Hawthorns and some signings who have the potential to develop as the club hopefully get themselves back to the top flight.

Replacing Foster will not be an easy task if he leaves this summer. The stopper has been an excellent servant for the Baggies, and it may be extremely difficult to find an option as reliable as the former Manchester United man.

One player the Baggies should arguably consider is another man who has come through the ranks at Old Trafford, and will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Daily Mirror reported in October that Dean Henderson is set to leave United for nothing in the summer and has as many as 14 clubs chasing his signature – one of those being West Brom. And the Baggies should arguably do all they can to win the race for the 21-year-old as he continues to impress out on loan with Shrewsbury.

Henderson has featured regularly for the League One promotion chasers, who have conceded just 26 goals in 35 games this term, and West Brom should now make sure that they do everything possible to make the youngster Foster’s long-term replacement.

Henderson has shown that he is more than good enough for the third tier, so it would be no surprise if he was ready to thrive in the Championship and may soon be ready for Premier League football.
