With West Brom now 10 points off safety with seven games left to play this season, it seems inevitable that the Baggies will be playing Championship football next season and it appears a matter of time before their relegation is confirmed.

With a number of players under-performing this season, it seems highly possible that West Brom will be fielding calls for several of their players this summer as Premier League sides hope to capitalise on the Baggies’ misfortune and give them another chance in the top flight.

If Alan Pardew is still the manager next season, he will face a tough task trying to rebuild the squad so landing one or two bargain deals could be vital for their chances of putting themselves in the promotion mix for next term.

One player they should consider trying to bring to The Hawthorns, or actually, bring back to the club, is Youssouf Mulumbu who continues to catch the eye in the Scottish Premiership with Kilmarnock.

The 31-year-old has been exceptional for Killie, and has helped the side to two wins over Rangers and one over Celtic this season, often proving to be a contender for man of the match in the big games. Steve Clarke’s men’s victory over the Hoops remains one of just two occasions where Brendan Rodgers has lost to another Scottish team since arriving at Parkhead at 2016.

Mulumbu would presumably not be as influential in the Championship on a weekly basis, but has come out on top against some very impressive midfielders this season so would seemingly provide the combative streak that the likes of Claudio Yacob and Gareth Barry have struggled to add this term.

And with Transfermarkt showing that the midfielder is out of contract at Rugby Park at the end of the season, there seems little reason why the Baggies should not consider a move for their former player this summer as they look to bounce back from a miserable campaign.
