Aston Villa defender James Chester’s future is reportedly uncertain, and that should perhaps alert West Bromwich Albion.

West Brom may have gone down with more momentum and confidence than most teams have while being relegated, but it appears that it is still going to be an extremely difficult summer for the Baggies to negotiate with a number of their players linked with moves away.
In particular, West Brom look set to face a fight to keep hold of a number of their centre-backs, with Jonny Evans and Craig Dawson (via The Sun), and Ahmed Hegazi (via ESPN) all linked with exits.

Darren Moore therefore, certainly needs to consider strengthening his options at the heart of the defence, so perhaps the Baggies boss should consider bidding for James Chester two years after the club sold the centre-back for £9 million – fee reported by the Daily Mail.
It would arguably be a mistake for the Villans to consider letting the Wales international leave, but if they are forced to due to financial constraints, then West Brom should have a look at trying to bring him back to The Hawthorns.

Chester has been superb for Villa this past season, leading them to the play-off final and the cusp of promotion. If Villa are prepared to lose him, then he could be the kind of leader that Moore should be targeting for the Baggies.
He would presumably not come cheap, but he could be a superb replacement for any of the players that the club may lose during the coming months. And after coming so close with Villa, he may have the kind of determination to not be denied promotion next season that would make Chester one of the best acquisitions that West Brom could possibly make.
