Stoke linked with a move for Manchester United’s Ashley Young but should West Brom try and hijack the deal?

Stoke City consider Manchester United winger Ashley Young as the ideal man to replace Marko Arnautovic should he complete his expected switch to West Ham United, according to the Sun.

Potteries manager Mark Hughes is a fan of Young’s and thinks he could fill the void left by Arnautovic, who the BBC reports is joining the Hammers in a £24m deal.

Jose Mourinho would like to keep the 32-year-old, however, although with plenty of competition already at Old Trafford and the Metro claiming they are also looking to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, the England international’s game time could be extremely limited.

Yet if the Red Devils are open to allowing Young to leave, should West Bromwich Albion look to try and beat Stoke to the attacker’s signature?

They too could be in the market for a winger after speculation of a bust-up between boss Tony Pulis and Nacer Chadli, despite the Express and Star reporting Pulis has now urged the former Tottenham Hotspur man to stay at the Hawthorns.

Aside from Chadli, the Baggies have James McLean, Matty Phillips, Callum McManaman (who spent the second half of last season on loan in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday) and promising youngster Jonathan Leko as options out wide, and could perhaps do with the extensive Premier League experience of someone like Young.
