Arsenal have been heavily linked with both Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey throughout the transfer window so far, but it was always believed that only one would join.
However, the Mirror has talked up Arsenal’s chances of completing a double swoop for the pair.
They insist that Mikel Arteta actually wants to sign two central midfielders in the coming weeks.
And Arsenal fans are buzzing over the update, as they feel it could be just what they need.
If Arsenal did manage to bring in Aouar and Partey then their options in the centre of the park would rival any side in the Premier League.
With Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos still at the club, Arsenal would have four genuinely excellent midfielders to pick from, and competition for places would be fierce.
The Gunners have already made an encouraging start to the season without their planned midfield recruits, as they beat Fulham 3-0 on opening day.
