Should Aston Villa and Hull forget Ryan Kent and target his Liverpool teammate Ben Woodburn instead?
The short-term future of Ryan Kent remains uncertain, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hinting that the youngster could have a place in his first team squad this season.
This was reported by the Hull Daily Mail, who also claim that Aston Villa, Hull City and Leeds United are in the hunt to sign the 20-year-old.
Ryan Kent of Liverpool battles for possession with Benat Etxebarria and Eneko Boveda of Athletic Club.
Not only that, but according to German publication Kicker, Reds representatives have been seen at Hannover as the Bundesliga club prepare a double swoop for Kent and teammate Ben Woodburn.
Woodburn has had less speculation surrounding his future and yet could be the ideal signing for either Villa or Hull if Klopp does indeed decide to give his fellow winger a chance in the first team.
The 17-year-old also plays out wide and became the Merseyside club’s youngest ever scorer last season when he netted in a 2-0 win over Leeds in the League Cup, beating Michael Owen’s record.
Woodburn impressed Klopp enough to convince the 50-year-old to play the forward nine times in all competitions last term and his performances saw him called up to Chris Coleman’s senior Wales squad – although he is yet to earn his first cap.
A plethora of attacking talent at Anfield means the teenager is unlikely to increase his opportunities in the immediate future, but at Championship level with either the Villans or the Tigers this impressive youngster could shine.
Ben Woodburn celebrates scoring Liverpool’s second goal during the pre-season friendly against Athletic Club.
