A recent report from the Daily Mail suggested that Tottenham and Manchester United were two of the clubs interested in signing Bolton youngster Max Broughton.
With Bolton spending the past campaign in League One – which culminated in their promotion back to the Championship – it is hard not to suggest that the Trotters midfielder could face future comparisons with Spurs star Dele Alli who also made the move from the third tier to the Premier League.
United are also keen on the 16-year-old
And it is that deal that should perhaps tempt Tottenham to act as quickly as possible.
The Daily Express reported in 2015 when Alli had completed a £5 million move to White Hart Lane that Manchester United were one of the teams that had missed out on the midfielder, who has since quickly established himself as one of the best players in the top flight.
In two seasons in the Premier League, Alli has scored 28 goals and contributed 16 assists, so United will undoubtedly be ruing the fact that they missed out especially as he was available for a seven-figure fee.

Though a deal for Broughton is much more of a gamble as Alli had enjoyed a lot more first-team football before leaving MK Dons, the fact that the 16-year-old is coming from a third tier club and is being chased by two of the teams that wanted Alli makes it easier to draw some parallels.
If United feel the same way, they will surely be extremely determined to make sure that they do not miss out again – especially as Everton are also in the running (via Mail) – and so, Tottenham should act quickly if they see something special in the Bolton starlet as the Red Devils may well move swiftly also.
