Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer is being targeted by Southampton, so perhaps Spurs should use that interest to land one of the Saints’ better players.
Southampton want Tottenham’s Kevin Wimmer
The Daily Mirror recently suggested that Southampton are keen to sign Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer this summer following his difficult time at White Hart Lane.
The Mirror suggests however, that the Saints are not willing to meet Spurs’ £20 million valuation of the Austrian, seemingly putting a potential deal in some doubt.
So rather than try and receive the funds from selling Wimmer, perhaps Tottenham should consider trying to use the interest in the Austrian to try and land Southampton winger Nathan Redmond.
Redmond has enjoyed an excellent season at St Mary’s, scoring seven times in the Premier League and following that up with a goal for England at the under-21 European Championships.
Southampton’s Nathan Redmond
Redmond would arguably be an excellent addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s side as he appears to have the potential to get considerably better in the coming years and add more end product to his game.
With the Mirror reporting that the Saints are looking to replace Jose Fonte, Tottenham can perhaps use their interest in Wimmer to try and get Redmond in a very good deal – though it would not be a surprise if they ended up having to pay the Saints money in the swap.
But if they manage to move a fringe player on while also bringing in a winger – who can also provide some cover for Harry Kane up front – who appears to have a very bright future at the highest level, then Spurs fans will surely not mind if they also have to spend a bit of money to make a deal happen.
