Tottenham Hotspur need to sign a striker capable of filling in for Harry Kane when he is unavailable.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
Spurs look like they will once again miss out on Premier League glory this season, with 10 points currently separating themselves and league leaders Chelsea in the table.
Whilst Mauricio Pochettino has assembled an incredibly impressive group of players, it could be argued that they need to strengthen even further still during the course of this summer’s transfer window, if they are to challenge on all fronts next term.
And one particular area that Tottenham need to improve is the striking department, specifically an able back-up for Harry Kane, especially with Vincent Janssen struggling to adapt to life in England.
But with the role requiring someone to be happy with playing second fiddle to the England international, the Lilywhites must look for a younger player, with huge potential, rather than a ready-made star.
An ideal option for them could be Inter Milan’s Gabriel Barbosa, aka Gabigoal, and with the Nerazzurri’s reported interest in Erik Lamela (the Mirror), Pochettino could very well be presented with a fantastic opportunity to snare the Brazilian youngster away from the San Siro.
Gabriel Barbosa
The 20-year-old striker is still very much a raw talent, and by no means proven at the highest level in Europe, let alone the Premier League.
But he has showcased on regular occasions the tremendous ability he has, both technically and physically.
The Inter striker possesses blistering pace, and has an aggressive edge to his game, which is needed for someone so young, when competing with the best players in the world.
He is a different type of striker to Kane, so could also be used as part of a 4-4-2 system, should Pochettino ever need to mix things up.
And with the Argentine’s well garnered reputation for signing young talents, before turning them into global superstars, Tottenham would seemingly be the ideal destination for the Brazilian.
