Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to strengthen their squad this summer.

It is hard to argue that Spurs’ first-team actually needs to be strengthened, aside from the acquisitions of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, of course.
One particular area, however, where they could most certainly be improved is by adding a midfielder who is not afraid to shoot from distance.
And the perfect summer signing is out there in the Premier League, although Daniel Levy and co might just have to swallow their pride if they are to make it happen.
Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson has established himself as one of the league’s best midfielders, and even Mauricio Pochettino admitted recently that he wished he had never allowed him to leave White Hart Lane two-and-a-half years ago, as quoted by the Mirror:
“I think he is a perfect player for us. But, in that moment, it was the club’s decision, his decision to move to Swansea and find another way.”
The 27-year-old has been in sensational form for the Swans so far this term, scoring eight goals and chipping in with 11 assists in 29 Premier League outings.
And although Tottenham have one of the strongest midfields in the Premier League, the addition of the Iceland international would provide them with an entirely different dimension.

Victor Wanyama predominantly sits in front of the back four, and rarely gets forward, whilst Mousa Dembele, as good a player as he is, can sometimes dwell on the ball for too long.
Dele Alli is arguably the league’s best attacking midfielder, but he rarely shoots from distance, with most of his goals coming from in and around the box.
And that is where Sigurdsson would bring something extra to the Spurs side. His creativity would also ease the burden on Christian Eriksen.
He would undoubtedly not come cheap, but would be worth every penny, considering his quality and the fact that he is already proven in the Premier League.
A no-brainer for Tottenham…if they are willing to admit they were wrong in the first place.
