Tottenham are yet to make a signing in the January transfer window.

Barcelona are reportedly struggling to offload Spanish wing wizard Gerard Deulofeu this month as they look to shrink their squad following the signing of Philippe Coutinho, but surely Tottenham can help the Spanish champions out?

The 23-year-old has struggled to make a significant impact at Barcelona since his move from Everton in the summer after a loan to AC Milan during the second half of last season.

Spanish outlet Sport claim, as per the Daily Mirror transfer new blog (08:47, Tuesday) that only Napoli are interested in the four-time Spain international but are yet to submit an offer.

The Serie A title chasers are believed to be also interested in PSG’s Lucas Moura as well as Ajax’s Amin Younes, which suggests that their interest in Deulofeu is simply not that great.

It is likely to see any interested parties have a free run at signing Deulofeu, and that should interest Mauricio Pochettino as his Spurs squad requires quality depth as they embark on three different competitions during the second half of 2017-18.

With Ousmane Dembele returning from injury and Coutinho likely to form one third of a front three alongside Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, there really is no way in for Deulofeu.

Barcelona's new Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho smiles as he holds a press conference in Barcelona on January 8, 2018.

But he is still a winger that can prove to be a huge asset at most European clubs, and he would certainly be an improvement on Spurs’ replacements for the likes of Son Heung-Min, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli.

Spurs have an out-of-form Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela as other options, with the latter still searching for his best form after a double hip injury kept him out for more than year after first suffering the problem in October 2016.

The report claims Spurs or any other sides can land Deulofeu for just £15.8million and Spurs would be foolish not to consider an offer for a player who can score, assist and can create something magical from nothing.
