Tottenham Hotspur want £20million for the Austrian international.
In an interview with website Sporx, Kevin Wimmer’s agent has explained that his client’s suitors in Germany and Italy are unable to match Tottenham Hotspur’s £20million valuation for the centre-back, so what chance a change of thinking from the North London club?
After all, the player’s agent went on to claim that he is highly rated at Spurs and will be a first-choice in two years.
The problem for Wimmer is that he cannot wait that long, watching as Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld continue to impress week in, week out.

At 24, the Austria international deserves to be playing regularly and Tottenham should take a leaf out of some of the Spanish clubs’ books by accepting a lower offer but insisting on a buyback clause.
It may not be the accepted method from English clubs but it is time they started learning from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
After all, the former sold Alvaro Morata only to buy him back two years later and – just 12 months on – add tens of millions to his asking price.
In short, if Tottenham do not need Wimmer now they should sell him for closer to £15million and ensure they can buy him back for the same price if he continues to impress.
That would enable Spurs to maintain the advantage and either bring him back to the club when Vertonghen’s age gets the better of him or Alderweireld moves on, or have the option to re-sign him just to sell him on for an inflated price as Real look set to do with Morata this summer.
That may not be Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s preferred method, as he will want to bring in as much money now as possible. But if no one is biting it may be wise to rethink Wimmer’s situation, especially when they signed him for only £4.3million from Cologne (as reported by the BBC) and would make a tidy profit regardless.
