Tottenham Hotspur could be looking to add another central defender to their ranks in the summer.

Spurs seem to have added another dimension to their game this season, with Mauricio Pochettino experimenting with the 3-4-2-1 system on a regular basis.
The formation seems to have become Tottenham’s default mode, and every time they’ve played one of the top teams in the league, they have entered the contest with three centre-backs.
The problem for the Lilywhites is that if Pochettino continues to utilise that particular system, he only really has Kevin Wimmer in reserve, and should one of his first choice central defenders be forced out through injury or suspension, there are question marks as to whether the Austrian is good enough to fill in at the highest level.
So Spurs will surely be considering the possibility of adding another top class centre-back to their squad in the summer.
And a fantastic option for them would be Roma’s Kostas Manolas.
The 25-year-old Greece international moved to the Italian capital from Olympiakos in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be in the region of £10.3 million, and has gone on to establish himself as one of Europe’s finest central defenders.

The Roma man has played an integral role in his side’s successful Serie A campaign so far this season, helping them climb to second in the table, just eight points adrift of league leaders Juventus.
And he would be the ideal addition to the Tottenham team. He reads the game fantastically well, is quick along the ground, and is commanding in the air.
Standing at nearly 6ft 3 in, the Greek star possesses an imposing physique, and would be well equipped to handle the robust nature of the Premier League.
Manolas’ contract does not expire until the summer of 2019, however, so it will surely take a fairly substantial offer from the north London club to tempt Roma into selling.
