The Tottenham Hotspur forward is still young and could prove to be a fine player for them in time.

When Tottenham Hotspur first signed Vincent Janseen from AZ Alkmaar it seemed Spurs had brought in a player who could significantly ease the pressure on first-choice striker Harry Kane. After all, here was a forward who had ended the previous campaign with 32 goals in 49 matches, finishing as the top-scorer in the Eredivisie with 27 strikes in just 34 games.
Unfortunately things have not gone according to plan thus far, with the 22-year-old finishing his first year at Tottenham with six goals and four assists in 38 outings.

The vast majority of those have come from the bench, and it was always going to take the Dutchman time to settle in a new league and a new country.
However, in comments published by the London Evening Standard, Janssen appears to leave the door open for a swift exit; something Tottenham may be wise to develop to their own advantage.
Selling Janssen so soon would be foolish if he ultimately fulfils his potential. The smart alternative, if Tottenham do bring in another quality striker this summer, is to loan Janssen to another Premier League side where he will be guaranteed to play week in, week out, ensuring they get a longer look at him before making the final call.

Janssen may never be cut out for English football, but he is still very young and he possesses an innate talent in front of goal that he continues to show for his country if not for his current club.
Despite his struggles there will be teams in the top flight eager to take Janssen on loan if he became available, and if he thrives Tottenham could them recall him and watch him blossom rather than rue an irreversible decision made too soon.
