Should Tottenham go after the Leicester City marksman?

Tottenham Hotspur badly need a new striker and a new winger. Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko joined Spurs last summer in a double move which was supposed to solve both problems.

But fast forward 12 months and the same problems exist as a result of both players massively underperforming for manager Mauricio Pochettino last season?

But could Pochettino kill two birds with one stone by going after Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy?

In early June, it was reported by The Express that Everton were interested in signing the 30-year-old, who scored 24 goals to help Leicester win the title in the 2015-16 season campaign, but only managed 13 in 35 outings last season as the Foxes failed to defend their crown.

Nevertheless, if he is available then Tottenham should certainly explore the idea of signing him.

By virtue of his goal tally last season, his days as a prolific striker might be behind him, but the 30-year-old still has the pace and guile to do a job on the wing for Spurs.

Known for his industry, Vardy would not have a problem adapting to the high-energy pressing which Pochettino loves.

Harry Kane’s presence at Tottenham lessens the urgency for another striker, but it is still important they have one – and in Vardy they would have one capable of reaching double figures in the Premier League. Can the same be said for Janssen?

With three years to go on his Leicester contract, he would command a decent-sized transfer fee, but he might just prove to be worth the money.
