Should Tottenham Hotspur renew an interest in Willian?

The Daily Mail reported last week that Manchester United have made enquiries into signing Chelsea star Willian next month.

But if the Brazilian winger is available, should Tottenam Hotspur renew an interest?

Willian famously looked set to join Tottenham in a £30 million deal back in 2013, only to snub Spurs for a move to their Premier League rivals at the last minute.

Two Premier League winners medals later and it’s hard to argue that the 29-year-old made the wrong choice, but he does seem to be growing less important under Antonio Conte, who has started him nine times and benched him nine times so far.

Tottenham fans have been crying out for a bit of pace from wide areas this season, and even more so since Saturday after Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling terrorised Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

At 29, Willian is no longer the jet-heeled figure that he once was, but he is still more than nimble and quick enough to be a massive addition in North London.

Chelsea fans would be furious if he was sold to Spurs, no doubt, but is it worse than selling to Jose Mourinho at Manchester United? Which side is the more likely to prevent the Blues from winning the title next season?

If he’s available, Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy should certainly rejoin the queue.
