If Danny Rose leaves Tottenham Hotspur this summer then they will need to dip into the market to add another left-back to their ranks.
Danny Rose’s future has been one topic of debate at Tottenham Hotspur this summer, as the experienced campaigner could be heading for the North London exit door.
It seems as though Rose will not be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the forthcoming campaign after he was left out of Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia, with a number of clubs, including PSG keen on his services, as reported by Sky Sports.
If Rose does depart then Tottenham will need someone to challenge Ben Davies for that left-back spot. Do they go for experience or someone much younger and unproven?
Italian outlet Calciomercato previously claimed that Spurs are eyeing a surprise deal for Shakthar Donetsk defender Ismaily, who is being lined up as a long-term replacement for Rose.
The Brazilian turned, 29, in January, so would he really be a long-term replacement for Rose if he leaves? Added with that, he is an unknown across Europe, so there would be some risk to his potential capture.
During his time in Ukraine, Ismaily has had a successful time with Shakthar, winning 11 trophies with the club, so he has an understanding of what it takes to win silverware under a highly-pressured environment.
But Tottenham should be looking at more younger players to fill that potentially soon-to-be-vacant back-up left-back role because Ismaily’s age should be off-putting.
Tottenham have enough experience at left-back in Davies, and they have enough experience in their backline if they wanted to take on a younger name, nurture him and take his game to the next level.
