Smith left Tottenham Hotspur for Bournemouth in 2014.
Tottenham’s Kyle Walker
Kyle Walker is keen to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, if a report in Monday’s Independent is to be believed.
Understudy Kieran Trippier has impressed in Walker’s place over the past few weeks, although a replacement will likely be sought if the England international leaves.
Should Bournemouth’s Adam Smith – a former Tottenham player – come into Mauricio Pochettino’s thinking?
How’s he been doing?
After going more three years with only a single Premier League appearance to his name, Smith has picked up top-level football fairly quickly. In 64 games since the start of last season, he’s scored or created seven goals for the Cherries, who are, granted, not the best defensive side.

What could he offer?
If Trippier is trusted to take on Walker’s mantle, someone like Smith – who perhaps wouldn’t expect to play every week – could be ideal. Another attack-minded full-back with plenty of end product, as evidenced above, the 26-year-old can also play on the right of midfield if required. Having come through the ranks at Spurs, Smith would also count towards the club’s home-grown quota next season.
Could Tottenham get him this summer?
Bournemouth tied Smith to a new four-year deal last summer, although as Matt Ritchie’s departure to Newcastle United has proved, the Cherries are unlikely to stand in a player’s way should a truly big club come calling. Tottenham would perhaps have to pay in excess of £10 million for their former player, although that figure could drop if a sell-on clause was inserted in the deal that took him to the south coast in January 2014.
