Should Tottenham Hotspur challenge Liverpool for Julian Draxler?
Speaking to Football London on Thursday, Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino revealed a slight disappointment with Georges-Kevin Nkoudou.
Pochettino suggested that the 22-year-old needed to “show more” in training to warrant regular football under him this season and beyond.
Tottenham could do with probably looking at a left-sided midfield player in the January transfer window, with Nkoudou struggling and it remains to be seen how effective fit-again Erik Lamela will be after spending the past 12 months out through injury.
And you wonder if Spurs chairman Daniel Levy should rival Liverpool’s interest in Paris Saint-Germain star Julian Draxler.
L’Equipe reported this week that Liverpool had made contact over signing the 24-year-old winger on loan in January but why don’t Tottenham challenge the Reds, whether it’s a loan or permanent move.
The German is reportedly frustrated with his new defensive role under Unai Emery in the French capital and you have to assume that quite a lot of players would jump at the chance to play alongside the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli in one of European football’s most exciting projects.
Draxler, who only joined PSG last January for £30 million, would be ineligible to compete in the Champions League this season, but long term he would be a major asset for Pochettino and Tottenham.
