Why didn’t Tottenham Hotspur go in for now-Liverpool star Andy Robertson when Hull City were relegated?

There is every chance that Tottenham Hotspur will be in the market for a left-back this summer.
Tottenham had a transfer saga last year when Kyle Walker joined Manchester City after months of regular rumours, and another saga involving a different full-back could be on the cards this time around.
Danny Rose has been repeatedly linked to Manchester United. In December, The Daily Mail claimed that Jose Mourinho was “confident” of getting his man in January and, with speculation about Luke Shaw’s future, it seems very possible that the Red Devils could renew an interest when the transfer window re-opens.
According to RMC Sport, Tottenham are keen on signing Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa in what might be a pre-emptive measure in the event that Rose does leave, but has manager Mauricio Pochettino already missed out on a brilliant replacement for the England international?

Liverpool snapped up Andy Robertson for only £8 million when Hull City got relegated last summer and the Scotland international has since proven himself an absolute bargain for the Reds.
Rose was only halfway through his eight-month recovery period when Robertson joined Liverpool and, considering Ben Davies is having another up and down season, should Spurs have rivalled the Reds?
Robertson, whose idol is Steven Gerrard, might have punted for a move to Anfield irrespective of whether the Lilywhites wanted him, but joining Tottenham would have been a very tempting offer for any player last summer, as it will be this summer, and it seems logical that he would have at least considered life under Pochettino.
Even though Rose was injured this time last year, signing a left-back wasn’t a priority for Spurs, but Robertson is arguably a better, more complete left-back than Ben Davies and for that price, Tottenham certainly should have looked at him.
