Tottenham Hotspur fans are crying out for more quality on the wing, but with things remaining quiet, will the Argentine be akin to a new signing?
The longer the transfer window drags on, the more worried Tottenham Hotspur fans have the right to be.
After all, it is clear Spurs need a new quality striker to ease the pressure on Harry Kane, while an additional experienced winger is required if Mauricio Pochettino wants his side to challenge both domestically and in Europe next season.
The problem is Tottenham seem no closer to getting any worthwhile deals over the line, even if we can never be sure what chairman Daniel Levy is getting up to behind the scenes.

It will be hoped that Spurs spring into action before the new campaign kicks off next month. But for now the North London club continue to be the subject of far more speculative headlines than actual deals, and it is starting to look like the closest they get to a new winger is the reintegration of one they already possess.
Erik Lamela has been out of the starting line-up so long due to injury that when he does return to action he will be seen by some as akin to a new signing. The issue for many Tottenham fans is that the Argentine has already overstayed his welcome.
Others rate the 25-year-old highly and he certainly understands Pochettino’s style of play. That said, Tottenham began to play far better once they got over the winger’s prolonged absence and the thought of him returning to the starting XI next season is one some Spurs fans are loath to consider.
Levy will never be held to ransom when it comes to potential new signings and this summer it seems that is almost inevitable when an English club comes knocking, especially for the level of player Spurs should now be targeting.
Tottenham may sign another up-and-coming wide player for a knock-down price, but there is no guarantee they will succeed where Clinton N’Jie and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou failed before them.
Lamela was pictured returning to the club for pre-season training earlier this month, and while his recovery continues, one wonders if he will be the additional wide player Pochettino ultimately relies on.
