Should Tottenham Hotspur consider replacing Toby Alderweireld with Clement Lenglet?

Tottenham Hotspur fans should be hoping that Mauricio Pochettino watched Manchester United’s Champions League defeat on Tuesday, with Jose Mourinho’s side losing 2-1 to Sevilla at Old Trafford to bow out at the last-16 stage.
Wissam Ben Yedder – a former Tottenham target – stole the headlines by scoring both goals, but Pochettino, if he was tuned in, should be now keeping a very close eye on Clement Lenglet.
The French centre-back posted a fine performance in the heart of Sevilla’s defence and with Spurs potentially in the market for a central defender this summer, the Argentine should seriously consider him.
At 22, Lenglet is only going to get a lot better and the North Londoners should absolutely try bringing him to the Premier League if Toby Alderweireld leaves Spurs.

The Belgian stalwart and Tottenham remain at an impasse over contract negotiations and he might well be on his way.
Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen has been touted as a potential replacement among others, but Lenglet, on the evidence of Tuesday, has a huge future ahead of him and Pochettino certainly has the clout to attract some of Europe’s finest starlets.
He is bound to have attracted bigger clubs than the Lilywhites after such a performance, but Tottenham have very little to lose by trying to get him – and a lot to possibly gain.
