Seldom-seen Leicester City forward Leonardo Ulloa insists that both Swansea City and West Brom made approaches last summer.

Leicester City's Leonardo Ulloa looks dejected

After coming off the bench to make his first Premier League appearance in over three months, Leonardo Ulloa took just a few seconds to come close with a typical bullet header in Leicester’s 4-2 defeat at Everton on Sunday.

In fact, as soon as the Argentine entered the fray in the second half, his physical presence suddenly instilled fear in the hosts’ backline.

Yet, it appears that his 12 minute cameo at Goodison Park may not be enough to convince him to remain at Leicester after falling out of favour dramatically under Claudio Ranieri and struggling to force his way into Craig Shakespeare’s subsequent plans.

And with Swansea City and West Brom also facing up to the prospect of losing key forwards, you wonder whether they will renew their interest in the summer. According to Ulloa, they both made approaches last year.

“When I was able to go to Swansea or West Brom in the summer [Ranieri] told me that he was going to stay with only four forwards… and the last day of the market brought another,” the former Brighton striker told Marca.

Despite being restricted to just one league start all season, Ulloa could still be a fine replacement for either Salomon Rondon (below) or Fernando Llorente if they were to depart in the summer.

West Bromwich Albion's Salomon Rondon

Rondon is without a goal since December and, although the Daily Mail claim that West Brom rejected a £32 million January offer from China, manager Tony Pulis will know that he needs to invest in his attack with The Baggies lacking a reliable alternative.

And, down in South Wales, talismanic targetman Llorente suggested to the Daily Mirror that he was interested in a January move to Chelsea. With The Swans struggling near the bottom of the league, it would be no surprise if the Spaniard was to consider his future in the summer.

Though, in Ulloa, both clubs could find a ready-made replacement.
