Sunderland are in desperate need of reinforcements this month.
The Black Cats are in a whole world of trouble at the moment, and are currently deeply embroiled in a relegation battle.
And what makes matters worse for David Moyes is that he is having to do his job with one hand tied behind his back, after being told he has limited funds to spend throughout this month’s transfer window.
Consequently, the Scot will have to be smart in his player recruitment over the next two weeks, if he is to bring in some quality additions to the Stadium of Light, and may very well have to target the free transfer market.
Should Sunderland take a risk on free agent Emmanuel Adebayor?

The 32-year-old Togolese has been without a club since he was released by Crystal Palace in the summer, and could be worth taking a gamble on.
Moyes received heavy criticism when he brought Victor Anichebe to the club earlier on this season on a free transfer, but it is hard to argue that he did not make a real impact when he was integrated into the first-team.
Unfortunately for the Wearsiders, Anichebe is now injured, and Moyes needs to find another striker who can take some of the pressure from Jermain Defoe’s shoulders.

And whilst Adebayor has a chequered past with regards to his team ethic and disciplinary problems, his quality is beyond doubt, and he could strike up a fantastic partnership with Defoe.
The pair played together for three seasons during their time at Tottenham Hotspur, and developed a wonderful understanding.
And having Adebayor amongst the Sunderland side could actually make Defoe even more dangerous, by giving him more space in which to operate.
Whilst signing the experienced former Arsenal and Manchester City striker would obviously represent a slight risk, the Black Cats need to do something drastic if they are to get themselves out of trouble.
And Adebayor could be just the man for the job.
