The former Everton and Manchester United boss has come in for some heavy criticism of his handling of the Black Cats this season.
Sunderland manager David Moyes poses
Following Sunderland’s recent 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough in the Premier League, fans have started to turn on manager David Moyes, who was only hired in the summer after Sam Allardyce took the England job.
The former Everton and Manchester United boss has failed to kick on from Allardyce’s accomplishments last season, which saw the Black Cats miraculously stay up following a run which saw them lose once from March until the season’s end.
Moyes has already come out and said, as reported by BBC Sport, that he will not resign from his position at the Stadium of Light, but ultimately the decision may not come down to him, with the board having to do a lot of thinking.
Apart from the fact Moyes failed to build on Allardyce’s foundations and has all but taken the club down – failing his remit in the process – it remains to be seen how Moyes can deal with the Championship, which has changed a lot since he was last there.

In Moyes’ two season in the Championship – then known as the First Division – he finished fourth and eighth with Preston North End, before taking the Everton job in 2002.
That division has changed a lot since then, with a hair’s difference separating teams from eighth to 18th, and what gets teams promoted is consistency. So far under Moyes, Sunderland have been consistently bad, and with a massive summer ahead of them, you wouldn’t be surprised to see the Black Cats’ hierarchy making a snap decision come June.
