Sunderland should look to sign West Ham United star who will be out of contract in the summer.
Sunderland were hit with the unfortunate news that their goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is set to miss up to three months (the Guardian), after picking up a serious looking knee injury during the Black Cats’ 3-1 loss to Manchester United on Boxing Day.
The 22-year-old has proven to be a key part of Sunderland’s resurgence over the past month or so, with a succession of impressive displays helping his side earn vital victories.

And now that he has been ruled out for such a prolonged period, will David Moyes look to strengthen his goalkeeping options in January?
It is common knowledge that the Scotsman will have limited funds with which to bolster his squad during the transfer window, so a smart option could be West Ham stopper Adrian, who is out of favour with Slaven Bilic, and out of contract in the summer.
It would surely take a minimal transfer fee to secure the services of the Spaniard, with just six months remaining on his current deal with the Hammers.

Although Sunderland have Vito Mannone as back-up to Pickford, it is debatable whether or not he is good enough at the highest level.
And even if Moyes does have faith in the Italian, he will surely need to bring in more experienced competition for Mannone, to stand his side in good stead during Pickford’s absence.
With the opening of the January transfer window just around the corner, Moyes should consider moving for the 29-year-old, if he wants to give his side a better chance of survival this season.
