Sunderland failed with a £7.5 million bid for Leicester City’s Leonardo Ulloa in the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Star, Leonardo Ulloa has been unable to save his Leicester City career.
Ulloa spent most of January trying to manoeuvre a move away from the King Power Stadium, but he was unable to depart.
Leicester rejected three offers from Sunderland on deadline day for the striker.
However, Ulloa has not been given a chance at Leicester since and now is set to leave in the summer.
Craig Shakespeare reportedly feels that the Argentinian striker should be made available for transfer, and it could be that Sunderland make a repeat offer in the summer.
David Moyes was willing to pay £7.5 million for Ulloa in January (Daily Mail), but could not force through a deal on deadline day.
Sunderland’s failure to add another striker has proven costly, with the Black Cats surely heading down now.
Moyes’ side are currently seven points adrift of safety, and only a miraculous run of form would see them escape to safety now.
And if Sunderland were to be relegated, Ulloa could well be a name on their wishlist.
The 30-year-old forward has previously been a potent scorer at Championship level with Brighton.
With Jermain Defoe likely to leave the Stadium of Light if Sunderland are relegated, a new forward will be on Moyes’ shopping list – and Ulloa has the ability to lead the line for the Wearsiders.
Sunderland may well be able to land Ulloa for cheaper than they offered in January and, as a result, it would not be a surprise if Moyes’ side do return for the target man this summer.
