Should Sunderland make loan bid for Wolves striker as Lewis Grabban’s linked with Molineux move?

Sunderland loanee Lewis Grabban looks as if he could be on his way to Wolverhampton Wanderers in January.

According to a recent report from the Chronicle, Wolves appear to be in the driving seat to sign Sunderland striker Lewis Grabban, having made contact with his parent club Bournemouth about a potential January move.

Grabban is on loan at the Stadium of Light and has been hugely impressive, scoring 11 times in the Championship. The Chronicle reports however, that he could soon be on the move with the Cherries willing to sell and a handful of clubs keen on signing him permanently – something Sunderland are unlikely to be able to do.

According to the Chronicle, Wolves are in pole position for his signature, having made contact with the Premier League side about the possibility of signing the 29-year-old.

If Grabban did head to Molineux, it would undoubtedly be a huge blow for the Black Cats who are largely within touching distance of safety in the second tier because of the forward’s goals.

So perhaps Sunderland should respond by making a loan bid for a player who the Express and Star reports will be allowed to leave Wolves on loan during the January window.

Donovan Wilson has struggled for first-team minutes this season, but has been excellent for their under-23 side, most recently, scoring a hat-trick in their clash with their Southampton counterparts earlier this week.

The Express and Star reports that Wilson will be allowed to leave on loan next month – so Sunderland should certainly make their own bid as they do not have many options, even with Grabban in their ranks.

It would certainly be a gamble to put too much faith in the 20-year-old, but if he can hit the ground running, he could arguably be a good option to consider signing on a temporary basis in January.
