Sunderland allowed Nathan Thomas to leave back in 2013, but should David Moyes bring him back to the Stadium of Light?
With Sunderland taking a drop into the Championship, now could be the time for the Black Cats to make a move to bring Nathan Thomas back to the Stadium of Light.
Middlesbrough have already had a £300,000 bid accepted for the winger from Hartlepool United (The Sun), and a host of second tier clubs are chasing his signature.
Wolverhampton Wanderers, Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield United are all said to be considering joining the race for Thomas.
The winger has been one of the Hartlepool’s star players this season, and at 22-years-old he looks to have a future at a high level.
Thomas has scored nine goals for Pools this season, but was unable to save them from relegation from League Two.
Sunderland may now be regretting their decision to allow Thomas to leave the club back in 2013.
Thomas was deemed not to have the potential to make an impact at the Stadium of Light, but his recent displays in League Two have shown that he may well have the capabilities to be a very threatening winger in the future.
Sunderland can avoid any fear that they may have let a star of tomorrow go though, by submitting a £300,000 bid for Thomas.
And, at that price, David Moyes’ side may find it worthwhile to bring the youngster back to give him a second chance on Wearside.
