Sunderland decided to bring in Ashley Fletcher from Middlesbrough, but he has flopped so far.

Sunderland may be regretting not going for Lukas Nmecha over Ashley Fletcher in the January transfer window now.
Sunderland almost signed Nmecha, but an injury put pay to a potential deal, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Chris Coleman’s side then went for Fletcher instead, but that move is starting to look like an error.
Fletcher has been given plenty of chances at the Stadium of Light since joining from Middlesbrough, but the target-man is still yet to score.

The 21-year-old has been completely ineffective at Sunderland, and has already been jeered by supporters.
Nmecha, in the meantime, has returned to fitness and been in fine form for City’s development squad.

The prospect scored in City’s UEFA Youth League victory over Liverpool yesterday, to continue his fine goalscoring form this term.
Nmecha has now hit 14 goals in 12 games for City’s youth side, and while the step up to the Championship is a big one, he would surely have been a better option than Fletcher has proven for Sunderland.
