Sorensen has signed a contract at Newcastle, but is open to a loan move.

Elias Sorensen is scoring goals for fun in Newcastle United’s second string and has earned a new contract with the club – but is open to a loan move and bitter rivals Sunderland have got to consider signing the striker.
The Chronicle quoted the 19-year-old striker as saying that he is “definitely” looking to go on loan this month, with the Denmark Under-19 international yet to feature for Newcastle’s senior side.
He said: “Definitely yeah. I’ll wait to see what happens in January. If I go on loan I will get experience, if I stay here I will kick on, keep scoring and improve.”
Sorensen earned a new contract at Newcastle, as reported on Monday, that will see him remain with the Toon until the summer of 2022. He is highly-rated at St. James’ Park, but first-team football is the next stage of his development.
Over on Wearside, Sunderland are desperate for a new striker with Charlie Wyke injured, Jerome Sinclair struggling and Josh Maja’s contract dispute completely up in the air after telling Jack Ross one thing, and Sky Sports the other.
With the club now outside the automatic promotion places behind Luton Town and Portsmouth, manager Ross needs a talismanic, in-form striker that can fire Sunderland towards the Championship.

Sunderland have managed just one goal in each of their last five league games, and though they have not conceded many, it is finding the back of the net that has seemed to prove difficult of late.
Luring Sorensen to the Stadium of Light would be move that would suit all parties. Sorensen would not have to relocate given the geographical location of the two sides, while he would also gain regular first-team football.
Newcastle will be getting a player back in the summer with the next stage of his development sorted, and perhaps a player capable of breaking into the first team. Sunderland could bolster their chances of an instant return to the second tier.
Both sides should put rivalries aside and look to strike an agreement for Sorensen to move on loan.
