If Adam Armstrong returns to Newcastle from Bolton should Sunderland consider a move for the attacker?
Rafael Benitez, manager of Newcastle United, looks on during the Premier League match against West Ham United.
Rafa Benitez has a decision to make about four Newcastle United youngsters whose current loan deals expire on January 1.
Adam Armstrong of Bolton Wanderers during the Sky Bet Championship match against Preston North End.
Armstrong is the pick of the bunch and could well interest other Championship clubs should his time at Bolton Wanderers not be extended.
The 20-year-old may have struggled to recreate the form shown at Coventry City when he burst onto the scene in 2015/16 with 20 goals in 40 matches, but is still a highly rated prospect at St James’ Park.
Armstrong may only have three strikes in 22 appearances this term but then has been used extensively on the left wing by Bolton and could still be an interesting target for the Magpies’ rivals, Sunderland, perhaps.
Lewis Grabban of Sunderland scores a goal from the penalty spot during the Sky Bet Championship match against Derby County.
The Black Cats are currently struggling in the relegation zone and top-scorer Lewis Grabban, on loan from Bournemouth, has been strongly linked with Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers by the Birmingham Mail.
Therefore if Grabban leaves manager Chris Coleman could be in serious need of attacking support, although a deal for Armstrong would have to see Newcastle helping out their North East neighbours in their time of need.
