Rangers boss Gerrard worked under Benitez at Liverpool.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has brought nine new players to Ibrox this summer but still needs to add another striker to his squad – and he should call on his former boss Rafa Benitez to help him out.
The Gers have just Alfredo Morelos and new signing Umar Sadiq up front, with Mexico international Eduardo Herrera set to leave the club this summer while Jason Cummings has joined Peterborough on loan from Nottingham Forest.
Even Colombian striker Morelos’ future in doubt, with Turkish SuperLig giants Besiktas reportedly sniffing around the former HJK Helsinki striker after scoring 18 goals last season.

With The Gers looking to fight on four fronts this season, after a 2-0 first-leg Europa League win over Macedonian outfit FK Shkupi last Thursday – thanks to goals from Jamie Murphy and James Tavernier – depth is a necessity.
Celtic have gained success from having three strikers despite only using a one-forward system, winning a second successive treble with Moussa Dembele, Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard last term.
Rangers must do the same, and Gerrard should ask for a favour from Newcastle United manager Benitez this summer by giving forward Ivan Toney a chance to shine at Ibrox.

The Evening Chronicle have claimed that Newcastle have told 22-year-old Toney that he can leave the club, despite scoring eight goals in 16 League One appearances for Scunthorpe United.
Boasting power, pace and the versatility to offer cover out wide, Toney is twice the player of Joe Dodoo and would provide excellent cover if brought to Ibrox this summer.
He has two years remaining on his contract and although Newcastle are seemingly keen to sell Toney, Gerrard should ask Benitez for a favour and look to lure the striker to Ibrox on loan.
