Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce should have plenty of money to spend next season if he keeps the side in the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mirror, Steve Bruce will immediately be given a £50 million budget at Newcastle United next season, if he keeps them in the Premier League.

Newcastle have broken their club transfer record in the last two transfer windows, with the additions of Joelinton and Miguel Almiron.

And it is suggested that Mike Ashley will invest in Newcastle’s squad if the Magpies stay in the Premier League.

Bruce will have funds made available to him to make further transfers next summer, if he can keep the side above the bottom three.

Could the budget be increased?

Newcastle may have a way to increase their budget to £100 million, but whether they should take it is questionable.

Sean Longstaff has already been valued at £50 million by Newcastle (Telegraph), and with another season under his belt he could be worth even more to the Magpies.

Longstaff has been rotated in and out of Newcastle’s team so far this term, as he comes back from injury, but his performance against Tottenham Hotspur was very strong.

Longstaff is popular at Newcastle and there is an argument to suggest that he should be kept at St. James’ Park as he has already become invaluable to Bruce’s team.

However, Mike Ashley has always shown a willingness to sell key players if his asking price is met, and Longstaff is sure to be in demand again.

The silver lining is that if Newcastle did sell Longstaff, and the money was invested back into the team, then Bruce could have a budget which is larger than any Magpies boss has previously had at their disposal.
