Tottenham and Arsenal are going head-to-head for both Lucas Moura of PSG and Bordeaux’s Malcom.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur appear to be going head-to-head for the signing of Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain, with the Express reporting the rivals are “locked in a £35m battle”.
The Gunners had made an initial approach to sign Moura, who is expected to leave PSG in the January transfer window having barely featured this season, on loan.
Arsene Wenger, manager of Arsenal, reacts during the Premier League match against Crystal Palace.
However, they then began negotiations over a permanent deal for the Brazil international – who is valued at around £35m – only for Spurs to swoop in with an offer of their own.
Yet while it would be sweet to beat their old enemies to a new player, are Tottenham being too hasty and should perhaps play the long game instead?
While still well regarded in European football, Moura has played just 79 minutes of first team football in 2017/18 and has fallen well down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes.
Bordeaux forward Malcom reacts during the French L1 football match against Caen.
This is in stark contrast to fellow Brazilian and Ligue 1 winger Malcom, who has caught many eyes this term with seven goals in 20 league appearances for Bordeaux.
According to Goal the North London duo are also both interested in the 20-year-old, but his club president Stephane Martin has made it clear the attacker will not be leaving in the winter – but does understand why a move to the Premier League would be appealing.
So perhaps Spurs should pull back from the Moura transfer and allow Arsenal to complete it, only to secure the arguably more attractive deal for Malcom over the summer.
