Tottenham Hotspur are amongst the host of sides chasing Celtic star Kristoffer Ajer after his superb season at Parkhead.

After Kristoffer Ajer’s superb run in the Celtic side, it should have probably surprised few Hoops fans when Teamtalk reported at the start of the month that a host of top European clubs are eyeing a move for the Norwegian – with Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund both keen on the 19-year-old.
Ajer has been excellent since breaking into Brendan Rodgers’ side, arguably establishing himself as Celtic’s best central defender this term and proving that he is definitely a player to keep a keen eye on in the coming years.

But it appears that he may not be at Parkhead for too much longer. Teamtalk reported that Spurs, Dortmund and Southampton were all interested, and given that they all boast impressive records when it comes to developing youngsters, Ajer would arguably be forgiven for finding any of the three options tempting.
Therefore, Spurs should look to act quickly and consider offering to loan Ajer back to Celtic for the season – in a deal similar to the one that saw Dele Alli arrive from MK Dons several months after Tottenham actually completed the signing – in the hope that the prospect of keeping the youngster for another year makes Spurs’ offer more appealing to the Hoops.

Replacing Ajer will be a tough ask for Brendan Rodgers so holding onto him for another year and knowing definitively when he is going to be on his way could be beneficial – even if he would prefer to hold onto the teenager for as long as he remains at the club.
It would also see Ajer get another year of regular football – that may include game-time in the Champions League – before he makes the switch to Tottenham, which would undoubtedly prove beneficial to Pochettino as he hopes to make Ajer the latest star to come from Celtic and thrive in the Premier League.
