Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente have been linked with a Spurs exit after Mauricio Pochettino’s comments, but should both stay?

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that players could still leave Tottenham Hotspur this month despite the club themselves not signing any new faces.

This year Spurs became the first side since the introduction of the summer transfer window in 2003 not to bring in a single new player before the deadline.

Yet with several names being linked with an exit, Pochettino says that here could still be some departures from Tottenham before August 31.

“Maybe, yes, we are going to see if some players believe that they can achieve their goals in another club. Maybe they are going to move. Different individual things can happen in the next few weeks,” the Argentine told Sky Sports.

The same report says that Vincent Janssen is among those likely to leave, while the Mirror claims the North Londoners are willing to listen to offers for Fernando Llorente.

It seems probable that at least one will depart, but should Pochettino consider keeping both strikers around despite them having failed to impress over the past two seasons?

Spurs have heavily relied on Harry Kane for their goals and the England captain is rightly considered first choice number nine, but the 25-year-old has looked tired since winning the golden boot at the 2018 World Cup and will certainly need a rest at different points in the campaign.

With Janssen and Llorente having struggled to be an adequate backup Pochettino has often turned to Heung-min Son to lead the line, but the South Korea international is now away for the next few weeks at the Asian Games.

Rather than further reducing a squad that cannot be improved until January, perhaps both forwards should be kept for at least six more months to see if they can turn around their form and their manager’s opinion?
