Harry Redknapp says that Tottenham Hotspur are “very lucky to have” Mauricio Pochettino as manager following the 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The former Spurs boss also thinks that Pochettino could well take the top job at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the future as he continues to impress.

“Everyone’s talking about him. He’s up there with the best. He could manage any club in the world, make no mistake. Tottenham are very, very lucky to have him,” Redknapp was quoted by Goal.

“They have one of the best managers in terms of his development of players; he improves footballers and also tactically he’s as good as anyone.

“You want to look after him. People are talking about Harry Kane maybe going to Real Madrid, but maybe someone like him as well, unless he gets looked after.

“I’m sure we’ll be talking about him in the same terms. He already is, probably.”

Harry Kane has been strongly linked with a transfer to Madrid in recent times, with the Metro claiming that Tottenham would demand more than £200m for the striker.

Yet should the North Londoners be more concerned that the Spanish giants are going to try and poach Pochettino? Especially after he showed the hierarchy exactly what he can do in the draw in Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane has delivered two Champions League trophies and one La Liga title since he took charge at Los Blancos in January 2016, yet despite that the Frenchman admitted in April this year that his job was still not “safe” – as outlined by the Independent.

Therefore it is not beyond the realms of possibility that there could be a change at the club in the near future and Pochettino, who previously managed in the division with Espanyol, may well be high on the wish-list.
