The Aston Villa hitman would be a useful addition for Southampton.
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl will surely be desperate to bolster his attacking ranks at St Mary’s this month, especially having sold Manolo Gabbiadini earlier this month.
With this in mind, the Saints should consider a move for Aston Villa hitman Jonathan Kodjia, who reportedly wants out of Villa Park, according to a report from French media outlet Ouest France.
The 29-year-old joined the Villans from Bristol City in the summer of 2016, for around £11 million, and he has gone on to score 26 goals in 77 Championship outings for the club.
Standing at 6ft 2in tall, the Ivorian would act as a fantastic focal point for Southampton’s attacking play.
Whilst Kodjia is a great target man, he also possesses the ability to make penetrating runs in behind the opposition’s defence, what with his impressive pace.
The Villa ace would offer the Saints an entirely different option through the middle, and the skill-set that he possesses makes him the ideal strike partner for Danny Ings.
The Ivory Coast international is a proven goalscorer, and he could make all he difference for Southampton between now and the end of the season, as they try to separate themselves from relegation trouble.
Quite how much the west Midlands outfit would expect for Kodjia’s signature remains to be seen, but south coast club should test the waters with a bid this month nevertheless.
